During the super bowl February 1, 2015, a commercial aired in Texas and only Texas advertising the upcoming news for the evening. In that ad for the news was a free commercial for medical marijuana legalization featuring a 9 year old little girl with seizures. Texas legislators are already set to take up two cannabis-related bills which have already been filed, including a penalty reduction billfor small amounts of marijuana, and a CBD-only bill. A full medical marijuana bill is also on the way, and miss Bortell has been working hard, along with many others, to bring awareness of the need to pass legislation this session. Viridian Sciences team update

With only a little more than four months of business in the cannabis industry, software company Viridian Sciences, nestled in the corner of a small brick office building on Main Street in Vancouver WA, is taking the world by storm with their one of a kind complete seed to sale business management software solution for the cannabis industry. One would think that being so new on the scene this company can’t have accomplished much, but you’d be wrong. Within the first few weeks after opening the doors to the office, this small company with ten employees at the time pulled off a major event – Weed and Weenies! Wow what a great time that was, it was a beautiful day, and a revolutionary one…the day MARIJUANA WAS LEGALLY SOLD FOR THE FIRST TIME in SW Washington State! Viridian Sciences was there when Main Street Marijuana, the first legal marijuana store in SW Washington opened their doors just a block up the road, so…we threw a heck of party! With music, munchies, water and vendors to keep the long line of consumers waiting for their turn in the pot shop entertained and hydrated. Next up, Seattle Hempfest and Tacoma CannaCon at the same time. CannaCon in the Tacoma Dome and Hempfest down on the waterfront in Seattle, for all intent and purpose, at opposite ends of the world.  We made a plan, and decided to divide and conquer. Three of us went to the three day Hempfest festival and seven went to the five day CannaCon conference.  Both were raging successes. This particular Hempfest held in Seattle WA, was the first Hempfest held since Recreational...

Cannabusiness at Crossroads with ERP Software

Watching the birth of today’s regulated cannabis industry is truly fascinating from a business perspective. Since passage of the Controlled Substances Act in 1970 cannabusinesses have operated mostly underground, absent the organizational structures found in most ‘legitimate’ capitalist enterprises. SAP Business One is a remarkable software package built with a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises. The system is easily customized to the particular needs of niche industries and specialized businesses. First launched in 1996 the system has been honed to perfection after 18 years of continuous testing and development. Partnering with one of the largest technology companies in the world has enabled Viridian Sciences to introduce the most reliable and scalable business management solution available. For an industry experiencing rapidly changing regulations and extreme growth we offer an alternative to the covert business model of the past four decades. The industry currently stands at a cross roads. As the political climate continues to shift toward a more progressive view of cannabis, adopting mainstream business tools will help you adapt, stay competitive and focus on your passion. The alternative is less bright. Your cannabusiness may struggle to grow efficiently. You may find yourself wasting time on problems not associated with your core business. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms remember: You Have a Choice. Stay tuned for future posts about Viridian Sciences ERP software. We will discuss in more detail how this product can positively impact your business and drive growth. NJ Marijuana Legalization- Pot for Pot Holes

Big movement on New Jersey marijuana legalization front. In 2014, duplicate bills to legalize possession and personal use of small amounts of marijuana for persons age 21 and over were introduced into both the Senate and Assembly. Senate Bill 1896, better known as the Pot-for-Pot Holes Bill because the bulk of tax revenue generated will go to fix roads, was introduced in March and sponsored by Senator Nicholas Scutari (District 22). Shortly following in May, Assembly representatives Reed Gusciora (District 15) and Linda Stender (District 22) sponsored a duplicate bill for the Assembly, Assembly Bill 3094. The new proposed bill goes far beyond the original proposed bill for NJ marijuana legalization in March, Assembly Bill 2842, which sought to put on the ballot for voters the legalization of possession of an ounce or less of marijuana, but provided no regulation of retail sales of marijuana or allow home cultivation of marijuana. Senator Scutari’s bill goes much further. S1896 calls for legalization of up to an ounce of marijuana, cultivation of up to 6 plants (3 mature), and firmly outlines plans for retail sale,  taxation, and tracking. The state of New Jersey will look to implement a seed to sale tracking system of cannabis for their legal marijuana similar to the model used in Colorado and Washington. As a global leader in seed to sale tracking, Viridian Sciences ERP solution powered by SAP is the frontrunner for their ability to provide complete transparency into cannabis businesses and ability to keep businesses compliant to state regulations and taxation. S1896 states that there will be no taxation on any medical marijuana. Taxation...
